The more successes I’ve had in my career, the more I’ve realised it’s not all down to luck! There are lessons I’ve learnt and steps I take, (That you can take too) To help you succeed without feeling like you have to sacrifice everything! So you can grow both personally and professionally.
These are the little shifts that have made the biggest difference in my life.
Ready? Let’s dive in.
1. Do More of What You Love
When you focus on what you’re truly passionate about, it creates an upward spiral of positivity that leads to success and joy.
For me, it’s coaching, running workshops, and hosting retreats. These things light me up and energise me.
What do you love doing? How can you make more space for it?
2. Switch Off & Unplug to Recharge
True happiness starts when you're fully present. Make time to unplug and recharge.
For me, it’s holidays, massages, and leaving my phone in the other room when I’m with my kids.
How can you create moments of rest and recharge in your life?
3. Find Your “Sticky Toffee Pudding”
Just like you always find room for dessert (or maybe cheese and biscuits, or another small slice of cheesecake!), make time for what fills you with energy.
For me, helping people has always been my “sticky toffee pudding,” even during the busiest times.
What will you prioritise to keep you energised?
4. Boost Your Positive Emotions
For every negative feeling, aim for three positives. Focus on joy, gratitude, serenity - whatever lifts you up.
This year, I’ve been embracing amusement, saying yes when my kids want to play and laughing more often.
Which emotion do you want to invite more of into your life?
5. Know What’s Important to You
It’s easy to get caught up in busyness and lose sight of what really matters.
For me, it’s about creating fun memories with family and friends, maintaining a balanced work-life dynamic, and making a positive impact on others.
What are your key priorities right now?
6. Visualise Your Future
Your mind doesn’t know the difference between imagination and reality, so why not visualise your dreams?
For me, visualising a TED Talk, a book launch, and incredible retreats has kept me motivated. (two out of three of those have already come true!)
What future vision excites you the most?
7. Turn Your Strengths into Superpowers
Focus on amplifying your strengths. Whether it’s through books, podcasts, or courses, invest in your growth.
I took my love for coaching and my curiosity about how the brain works and turned it into a career as a Positive Psychology coach.
What skills will you focus on mastering next?
8. Be Authentically You
Success comes when you bring your whole self to every part of your life.
For me, that means showing up as a coach, mum, friend, and professional all at once.
How will you show up more as you?
9. Find Your Cheerleaders
Surround yourself with people who lift you up.
I’m so grateful for the cheerleaders in my life who celebrate my successes and support me through my challenges.
Who has your back? Be sure to thank them for their unwavering support.
10. Own Your Narrative
The stories you tell yourself shape your reality. Choose a narrative that empowers you.
For me, my story used to be, my success is because I’m lucky, but now I know it’s because I’m really good at what I do, I can simplify the complex and inspire others to take action.
What story do you choose to tell yourself?
These lessons have been game-changers for me, and I hope they bring some inspiration to you as well. Which lesson do you need to hear today? I’d love to know - share your thoughts with me!
