COCKTAILS AND COACHING

Just 3 Minutes to Feel Calm, Focused + Ready | Simple Steps for Busy Women

We’ve all had those weeks, haven’t we? Where the to-do list feels never-ending, your brain’s buzzing with ideas, and everything feels like a top priority.

I’ve been there. In fact, just last Friday I was knee-deep in that exact feeling. Too much to do, too little time.

But just a few days later, I felt completely different. Calm. Focused. Energised. Ready to take on the world again.

So how did I shift my energy so quickly?
It took three simple steps and just three minutes for you to read.
Here’s exactly what I did (and what you can do too) to regain your calm and clarity.

1. Speak to someone

Say it all out loud. Everything that’s swirling around in your head, the big things, the small things, the “I need to do this right now” things.

Why? Because when you give words to what’s in your head, you start to process it. You shrink it down. You make it real, and suddenly it feels so much more manageable.

Sometimes you realise it’s not as big as you thought.
Other times you realise there is a lot, but that’s your cue to be kind to yourself and stop expecting to do it all, right now, all by yourself.

You can talk to your boss, a coach, a colleague, or a friend.
For me, I spoke to my fabulous PA, Sadie. I started the chat with “I want to do it all now!” and ended it with five big priorities and a plan for each one.

So, who could you talk things through with today?

2. Write it all down

Next, get everything that’s in your head onto paper.
I call this my brain dump and it’s magic for clearing mental clutter.

Your brain isn’t designed to juggle a 50-item to-do list. When you’re trying to remember it all, your mind stays in a constant loop, creating anxiety and often disturbing your sleep too.

So take 20 minutes. Write down everything, big and small, work and personal.
I like to use subheadings such as:

  • What I can delegate

  • Actions I need to take this week

  • My ‘not now’ list

  • Decisions I need to make

You might prefer one long list or a few smaller ones, do whatever feels good for you. The point is to get it out of your head and onto paper.

Bonus: crossing things off feels amazing!

When can you carve out those 20 minutes? You’ll thank yourself after.

3. Choose your top three priorities

Finally, decide what really matters, right now.

It’s easy to convince yourself that everything’s urgent, but if everything is important, then nothing truly is.

On Friday, I was guilty of telling Sadie, “It’s all important!” before laughing at myself and narrowing it down to my top three.

Every Monday and often each day, I set my top three priorities.
It’s a small habit that makes a big difference, helping me stay focused, make progress, and achieve more of what actually matters.

So, what are the three things that matter most for you this week?

Three minutes. Three steps. One calmer you.

That’s all it takes.
They may sound simple, but the truth is, it’s often the simple stuff that makes the biggest impact.

So if you’ve been feeling frazzled, take a moment for yourself.
Speak it out. Write it down. Focus on your top three.

And just like that, you’ll feel calmer, more focused, and ready to go again.

Which of these steps did you need to hear today?
Send me a message on social media to let me know and I’d love to know which one you’ll try first.
